Blepharoplasty

COMING SOON!

What Is Blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is commonly known as eyelid surgery or eye lift. It is a refined surgical procedure that removes excess skin, muscle, and fat from the upper eyelids. We do not do surgical removal of the fat on lower eyelids, but we can do so using laser. However, this should be discussed during your consultation with Dr Sami Hameid.
Performed to correct drooping eyelids, blepharoplasty restores definition and functional vision. The procedure targets both aesthetic and practical benefits, offering a refreshed, more alert look and improved visual field when sagging or hooded eyelids obstruct sight.
Who Is an Ideal Candidate for Blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is suited for individuals experiencing:

-
Upper eyelid hooding or sagging, causing a tired or aged appearance, or even visual impairment.
-
Under-eye bags or puffiness, where excess fat creates a worn-out look.
-
Dermatochalasis, a condition marked by excessive eyelid skin, which may affect side vision and comfort.
-
Those seeking both cosmetic enhancement and functional improvement, such as expanded peripheral vision.
You’re likely a good candidate if you're in good general health and have realistic expectations. During a thorough consultation with Dr Sami Hameid, our expert, he will assess your eyelid anatomy, visual field, and overall well-being to ensure a safe, personalised plan.
Benefits of Blepharoplasty
Aesthetic Enhancements
-
Smooths eyelid folds, reducing the appearance of tiredness and aging
-
Refines eye contours: minimises wrinkles, elevates sagging lids, and softens under-eye bags
-
Leaves minimal visible scarring, with incisions hidden in natural creases or inside the eyelid
Functional Improvements
-
Restores upper and peripheral vision in cases where drooping skin impedes sight
-
Reduces eye strain or brow discomfort caused by heavy eyelid skin
Longevity & Confidence
-
Delivers long-lasting results, typically 5–10 years or more, depending on skin care and health factors
-
Popular among younger patients too—recent trends show increased lower blepharoplasty among women in their 20s–30s to address genetics and social media–influenced self-consciousness
-
Many patients report boosted self-esteem and a renewed sense of youthfulness post-procedure

What to Expect
On the Day
-
Typically an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia, with optional sedation or general anesthesia depending on your needs
-
Surgeons mark natural creases for incision; for lower lids, incisions may be inside the eyelid (transconjunctival) or just below the lash line
During the Operation
-
For upper lids: excess skin, fat, and sometimes muscle are removed to open the eye area.
Aftercare & Recovery

Following blepharoplasty, it is normal to experience some bruising, swelling and mild discomfort around the eyes. Temporary blurring of vision, light sensitivity or watering may also occur during the first few days, but these effects usually settle as the healing process progresses. To encourage a smooth recovery, patients are advised to rest, keep the head elevated, and use cold compresses to reduce swelling.

Stitches, if required, are typically removed within a week. Most visible bruising and swelling fade within one to two weeks, although it may take up to a month for the area to fully heal. Many people are able to return to work and normal activities within just a few days, and the final aesthetic improvements become more apparent over the following weeks.
Possible Risks
Blepharoplasty is considered a safe and reliable procedure, but as with any surgery, there are potential risks. Some patients may experience temporary dryness of the eyes, visible scarring, or the development of small blood collections known as haematomas. In rare cases, there may be issues with eyelid position, such as drooping (ptosis) or difficulty closing the eyelid fully (lagophthalmos), which could require further treatment.
